Sunday July 21, 2024 — A weak cold front crossed the region Sunday afternoon and a few showers did pop up in southern Ontario, Canada as the front approached. However, most of the showers have faded out as they cross Lake Ontario, before reaching Rochester. High temperatures ended up in the lower 80s, and while much of the day had relatively lower humidity levels, dew points have jumped into the mid-60s over the course of the early afternoon.

Review: RENT at Blackfriars Theatre
Throughout modern Broadway history, there seems to be one musical that defines every era. The 1970s gave us “A Chorus Line”; the 80s brought “The Phantom of the Opera”; “Wicked” and “Book of Mormon” dominated the aughts, and “Hamilton” has reigned supreme since 2015. But in the ’90s, much of the wider pop culture was defined by “Rent”, Jonathan Larson’s magnum opus about young bohemians during the height of the AIDS crisis. Recently, July 16, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record State investment of nearly $51 million for public safety on Long Island. Nassau County agencies received $1,494,692 and Suffolk County agencies received $1,307,677 for the GIVE funding cycle that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This funding also includes approximately $21.1 million in one-time capital funding to 39 police departments and sheriffs’ offices – including $387,042 for the purchase of law enforcement technology and equipment to allow those agencies more effectively solve, reduce and prevent crime.
