Good News: 78-year-old woman meets good Samaritans who helped her after fall

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Good Samaritans rushed to the aid of a 78-year woman who fell while trying to get home from the New Orleans Square Block Party when it was canceled because of a storm.

Nestled back at home in Broken Arrow is 78-year-old Danielle Harper, who finally got to meet the men she now calls her heroes.

"Oh, I’m so happy to see you. I told the girls they just picked me up like they levitated me. You had me put my arms around your neck, and it was, so strong,” Harper said.

Smiling from ear to ear, Danielle knows things could have been a lot worse. She fell as she was trying to get home before the storm that ended up cancelling the New Orleans Square Block Party. Zac Cox and Jordan Carter saw it happen.

"When she fell, we got out of the truck immediately. We helped carry her all the way to her apartment,” Jordan said.

They happened to have a booth set up for Polar Bear Jack's and were leaving when they saw Danielle needed help after falling in the middle of the road.

"I got to thinking, they could have run over me and I would have been really hurt,” Harper said.

Danielle does have to have surgery on her knee after shattering it in the fall. But she's not focused on that. She's focused on the goodness still in the world.

"Oh I’m so grateful. I thank the Lord. It was so coordinated perfectly. That's kind of the way my life goes. He watches over me,” Harper said.

Danielle’s daughter took to social media hoping to find the men who helped her mom. And it paid off.

The three got to sit beside one another and talk about what happened and learn a little more about each other. A friendship forming all because of a fall.

Both men say they hope someone would do the same if it would have been their grandmother.

Zac said the message from their actions is simple: Do good.

"Anytime you see an opportunity you can help some in need, take advantage of the opportunity and be there, make the most of it,” Zac said.
