MLB Fans Call Out 'Absurd' Yankees All-Star Selection

The New York Yankees got three players named to the AL squad suiting up for the 2024 Midsummer Classic. But one of the three All-Stars is not like the others.

Nobody is going to contest the All-Star cases for Yankees outfielders Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. Despite the Yankees' recent slide, the two have been among the best hitters in baseball throughout the first half of the season.

Yankees closer Clay Holmes's All-Star case isn't nearly as bulletproof. In fact, Holmes was the player a handful of fans mentioned as being unworthy of making the roster.

Other relievers such as the Baltimore Orioles' Craig Kimbrel or the Boston Red Sox's Kenley Jansen were names fans brought up as having a better season than Holmes.

Fans labeled Holmes making it as "silly" and even "absurd" particularly in comparison to some other standout relievers this season.

Holmes has had a decent season with a 3.00 ERA and 19 saves across 37 games played for the Yankees.

But many feel as though his numbers just weren't worthy of earning him one of the four All-Star slots reserved for bullpen arms.

Holmes will be playing in his second All-Star game over the last three seasons.
