MORRIS HEIGHTS, the Bronx (PIX11) — A man is accused of killing a bystander who was recording his girlfriend’s fender-bender in the Bronx earlier this month, police said.

Clement Boateng, 36, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon for allegedly stabbing Ronald Gomez-Mesa, 29, to death on July 2, according to the NYPD.

Authorities found Gomez-Mesa with a stab wound to the chest near 1809 Phelan Place in Morris Heights at around 4:30 p.m., police said. The victim was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

Boateng’s girlfriend got into a minor car accident before calling him to come to the scene, where he and Gomez-Mesa argued because the victim was at the corner recording the incident, sources said.

The man allegedly smacked the phone out of the victim’s hand during several arguments before the suspect allegedly pulled a sharp weapon and stabbed Gomez-Mesa, according to police and sources.

Boateng’s arraignment was pending Friday, according to court records.
