THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — The spirit of the great pumpkin is already taking over the Bronx Zoo.

The zoo is already gearing up for its second annual Pumpkin Nights event, set to return on Sept. 26 and to run through Oct. 27. The fall-themed attraction features 5,000 animal-themed jack-o’-lanterns set up in different ecosystems.

Families will feel like they’re traveling through the African Savanna, Amazon rainforest and bioluminescent deep-sea, as animals native to each habitat are brought to life as illuminated pumpkins. Much like last year, guests can also enjoy local food trucks, outdoor games and face painting.

“I was so impressed with the displays! I couldn’t believe how many jack-o-lanterns were created,” said one visitor from last year on the Bronx Zoo’s website.

Following its successful debut, organizers decided to bring back Pumpkin Nights with expanded offerings.

Pumpkin Nights will run Thursday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are available now on the Bronx Zoo website .
