The New York Yankees are finalizing a blockbuster trade to acquire Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm, according to multiple reports.

The news of the deal was first reported by Craig Mish of The Miami Herald and reportedly includes the Yankees sending three prospects.

Those three prospects include catcher Agustin Ramirez, infielder Jared Serna and utility Abrahan Ramirez. The most notable prospect is Agustin Ramirez, who was the Yankees' No. 3 prospect, according to Baseball America's updated rankings.

With the second-worst record in the American League since June 14, the Yankees needed to make some kind of move before the July 30 deadline.

Chisholm was an All-Star in 2022 but hasn't played at that level since. He moved to centerfield in 2023 but recently moved back to second base a bit so inquiring teams could see him play in the infield again.

    Chisholm has been roughly league-average with a 100 and 101 OPS+ in 2023 and 2024, respectively. He's 26 years old and is arbitration-eligible through the 2026 season.

In 101 games during the 2024 season, Chisholm is slashing .249/.323/.407 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI, 22 stolen bases and 39 walks.

There's a good chance Chisholm will become the leadoff hitter where he has a 97 OPS+ in 265 plate appearances this season.

The acquisition of Chisholm will give the Yankees an upgrade in centerfield when Aaron Judge gets a half-day off, but there's also a good chance he takes over at second base over Gleyber Torres.

The Yankees needed to do something at the deadline to provide a jolt to a lineup that hasn't gotten much out of players not named Judge or Juan Soto.

At least adding Chisholm could provide some juice to the top of the lineup.
