The New York Yankees (60-45) added an impact player for their playoff push. They bring in Jazz Chisholm Jr. in a trade with the Miami Marlins .

The Yankees currently have the fifth best record in baseball, but trail the Baltimore Orioles (61-42) by two games in the AL East. The move to bring in Chisholm won't lock down a playoff spot, but it could help fortify the team's roster.

Chisholm is batting .249 with 13 home runs, 50 runs batted in, a .323 on base percentage and a .730 slugging percentage. While the numbers might not seem impressive, the Yankees could be adding more consistency to the roster.

The addition is an upgrade over a few of New York's contributors. On Friday, the Yankees featured three batters who have a batting average below .200 for the year.

New York could use a spark in the lineup after a tough recent stretch. The Yankees have lost 13 of their last 19 games, including a 1-5 record over their last six games.

Despite the tough stretch, the team sits 15 games over .500. They'll look to bounce back in their final two games of a series with the Boston Red Sox .
