Yankees forced to play Wednesday doubleheader with Angels due to weather

The Yankees will have to wait until Wednesday to face the Angels.

The opener of the three-game set in The Bronx was postponed on Tuesday as the forecast predicted sustained inclement weather.

Instead, the teams will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game starting at 4:05 p.m. and the second no earlier than 7:05.

Game 1 will be broadcast on YES; Game 2 is slated for an Amazon Prime Video broadcast.

Tickets for Tuesday night will not be valid for entry on Wednesday, but can be exchanged for a similar regular season game at Yankee Stadium.

It will mark a second straight night off for the Yankees, who took a 4-3 win on Sunday against the Blue Jays thanks to DJ LeMahieu’s extra-innings walk-off single.

Entering Tuesday’s action, the Yankees are tied for tops in the AL East with the rival Orioles at 67-46, but have posted a 29-24 mark at home this season.

The Angels, in fourth in the AL West with a 49-63 record, are 13 games back of the fourth and final AL wild-card spot and seemed destined to miss the playoffs for a 10th straight season and a seventh consecutive sub-.500 finish.

They remain without perennial MVP candidate Mike Trout, who announced last Thursday that his season is over with a meniscus tear.
