BROOKFIELD — Brookfield police are investigating a single-car crash that killed two people, the driver and passenger, early Saturday morning.

The Worcester District Attorney's Office identified the victims as Patrick Mcleish, 31, and Thomas Groccia, 35, both of Brookfield. Mcleish was in the driver's seat.

Police were alerted to the crash just after 1 a.m. Saturday in the area of 12 East Main St., where a truck had crashed into a tree off the road with two people inside. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the passenger to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

At the crash scene Monday morning, a bouquet of flowers leaned against the tree that was struck by the vehicle.
