Firefighters battle 2-alarm scrapyard fire in Peabody
PEABODY, MASS. (WHDH) - Firefighters battled a two-alarm scrapyard fire in Peabody Tuesday night. After the fire broke out around 9 p.m., crews were used a deck gun to spray water onto the rampant flames on Corwin Street. Peabody fire crews on scene warned those nearby about the possibility of explosions from the 12 to 20 vehicles piled on one another.

Lynnfield committee appoints Geary as superintendent
The school committee voted to appoint Interim Superintendent Thomas Geary as the superintendent of Lynnfield Public Schools at its meeting on Wednesday. In a Facebook post hours before the meeting on Wednesday, School Committee Member Jamie Hayman wrote he would vote “no” on the agenda item to appoint Geary to the permanent role of superintendent and said the Lynnfield community “deserves an explanation” as to why.

Somebody bought a winning $1 million scratch ticket in Massachusetts for $50 and came forward to claim their prize on Tuesday.
