BROOKHAVEN — A fire on Halbert Heights Road Sunday morning is under investigation for potential arson. Brookhaven Fire Department and Brookhaven Police Department responded to the call.

Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins stated the fire was around 11:20 a.m. Sunday morning in a press release. Brookhaven Fire Chief Jeff Ainsworth said firefighters were able to get to the fire quickly and extinguish the flames. The fire did not cause significant damage to the structure. The fire is believed to be a case of arson.

“Upon arrival and thorough subsequent investigation it was determined that the fire had been set intentionally,” Collins stated. “The Brookhaven Police Department is actively searching for Johnny Potts in connection with charges of arson.”

Brookhaven Police Department asks anyone with information about Potts whereabouts to contact the department immediately.

“This investigation is a joint effort between the Brookhaven Fire Department and Brookhaven Police Department,” Collins stated.

Ainsworth did not have any further comments about the fire other than it was under investigation and Brookhaven Police Department was taking the lead on the case.
