BROOKHAVEN — Evans Law Firm celebrated the ribbon cutting for a new office Thursday afternoon. The office space at 316 S Second Street was the former home to Sen. Jason Barrett’s law practice.

Benton Evans is the owner of the law practice. He is a criminal lawyer, a divorce and family lawyer and a personal injury lawyer. Thursday’s ribbon cutting celebrated the opening of his new Brookhaven office.

A Lawrence County High School Alumni, Evans studied marketing at Ole Miss before studying law at Mississippi College. He passed the Bar Exam in April 2014 and has practiced law ever since.

“My dad is an attorney and he has been practicing since 1988. After college, I decided to go to law school and follow my dad’s footsteps,” Evans said. “I’ve enjoyed it for the most part. It has been a satisfying career.”

Evans Law has two offices, one is in Monticello at 540 East Broad Street and the other is in Brookhaven at 316 S. Second Street. He said he recently moved to Brookhaven so the Brookhaven office is his main office now. The office in Brookhaven officially opened on May 1st

Evans said he moved to Brookhaven with his family because his sons go to Brookhaven Academy. Taylor will be a sophomore at Brookhaven Academy, Carter is going into eighth grade and Cooper is going into third grade. Opening an office in Brookhaven was only natural, Evans said.

“I’m excited about the opportunities Brookhaven has to offer,” Evans said.

Two of Evans’ brothers are lawyers. Jared Evans is a public defender in Lincoln County while Nathan Evans works at the Mississippi Supreme Court in Jackson.
