Experience the thrill of medieval combat at the Rockingham Public Library
BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – The Rockingham Free Public Library invites the community to an exciting event featuring Vermont Armored Combat on Saturday, July 20, at 1 p.m. Witness the power and skill of medieval armored sword fighting as Vermont Armored Combat brings the excitement of armored combat to life. This unique event will include a demonstration of sword fighting in full armor, showcasing their technique with blunted swords. The demonstration will be followed with some hands-on instruction in a few basics of sword combat, including experiencing the weight and feel of the armor and weapons.
Early, absentee ballots now available for Aug. 13 primary
BRATTLEBORO-Early and absentee ballots for the Aug. 13 State Primary Election are available by request. Absentee ballots for this election must be requested. Anyone wishing to vote early and in-person may do so at the Brattleboro Town Clerk's Office. This option is available through Monday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m.
Rockingham Library hosts Foraging Safely class
BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – The Rockingham Free Public Library will host a Foraging Safely class with Gaal Shepherd Crowl on Monday, July 22, at 5 p.m. Artist and author Gaal Shepherd Crowl will share her years of foraging knowledge to help guide those in their own practice. Since taking her first class on mushrooms at VINS in 1988, Crowl has gained confidence in her ability to identify fungi, and by training the eyes to see subtle differences, to have safely eaten 52 varieties. “Mushroom hunting is a lot like treasure hunting. Very interesting and sometimes exciting when you happen upon a big find! But it is for the seriously careful,” shared Crowl.
