Two-time state track champ heading to Notre Dame next season

Holy Angels senior Ashley Fisher joined a stellar group of student-athletes who were honored with the Athena Award during Friday’s luncheon in Brooklyn Center.

The award is presented to one senior from each Minneapolis-chapter school to recognize outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and the community.

Fisher, a multiple-time state track champion, Starliners dance team captain and diver on the swim and dive team speaks to her ability across many difficult disciplines to perform at the highest level.

The two-time defending Class AA state champion in the 100-meter dash, Fisher owns the Stars school record in four events including the 10m and 200 dashes and is part of the 4x100 and 4x200 relay team records.

She plans to continue to perform on the track at Notre Dame while majoring in business.

She ran a 12.07 in the 100 dash to win the state title last June and ran a 12.31 to win the Eric Jones Invite in St. Louis Park, four days before finishing seventh (12.32 prelims, 12.33 finals) at the Hamline Elite Meet.

In the 200 sh she set a new personal-best time of 24.81 while finishing second at the state meet.

Fisher anchored the state runner-up 4x100 relay which ran a 48.74 and was fourth in the triple jump at state going 37 feet, 0.25 inches, gaining nearly a foot (36-3 3/4) from the runner-up distance at the Section 3AA meet and and more than two feet from her Tri-Metro Conference distance of 34-8 3/4.

So far in 2024, Fisher won the long jump at a meet hosted by St. Anthony Village on April 30 going 17-6 1/4.

Fisher has earned eight varsity letters at Holy Angels including four with dance, three with track and field and one with swim/dive. A two-time track and field captain she owns three programs MVP honors to go along with eight All-Tri-Metro Conference Awards.

She earned an Honorable Mention award for the Minnesota Track and Field Athlete of the Year for her performance in 2023, which included helping the Stars to a third-place finish in the team points standings with just five teammates participating in state. It was the Stars’ first-ever state track trophy.

In addition to her athletic success, Fisher is a member of the National Honor Society, serves as the chief editor of the Holy Angels yearbook, is a member of the Campus Ministry Team and volunteers at Arc’s Value Village.

She was named to the Track and Field Academic All-State team for three consecutive seasons (2021-2023) and Dance Team Academic All-State in 2024.
