The Brooklynettes, Kings County’s home court NBA dance team, is hosting open call auditions this weekend at Barclays Center.

Kings County’s professional NBA dance team, the Brooklynettes, is holding auditions for the upcoming season.

The aptly named team performs at all of the Brooklyn Nets’ home games at Barclays Center and supports the players during events both citywide and nationwide. The Brooklynettes also have extensive professional experience in music videos, film, TV, theater and more.

And if you’ve ever wanted to join them, now’s your chance!

Auditions begin on Saturday, July 13, at Barclays Center, where hopefuls will undergo a rigorous process of learning and performing various routines while being coached and judged by a selection of celebrities and Brooklynettes alumni.

Day one will feature a heels routine choreographed and taught by former Brooklynette head captain Melissa BeCraft, judged by a panel including Miles Keeney, Jona Biddle, Hollywood and Fatima Wilson.

Those who receive callbacks will continue auditions at St. Joseph’s College, where the dancers will also be interviewed to showcase their personalities and learn the “athletic combo” — a mix of technical movements required to join the Brooklynettes team.

On the fourth and final day of auditions, the 22-person squad will be selected and announced. Other celebrity judges include Tanisha Scott, Charles Smith, Ms. Wy and Olutayo.

The open call auditions begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. No prior registration is required, with all dancers age 18 and up welcome. Dancers are encouraged to come dressed in form-fitting attire, and to arrive in “full glam.”

But getting a spot on the coveted dance troupe will require more than just hair, makeup and moves, according to Criscia Long, the Brooklyn Nets’ director of entertainment and a former captain of the New York Knicks City Dancers.

“Were definitely looking for someone with that star quality,” Long told Brooklyn Paper in 2018.
