Recently, Stephen A. Smith detonated over Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons. The ESPN analyst blasted the Aussie guard for his dubious injury history, and on the way, he continues to earn tons of money as a max player. According to SAS, Ben can only consider himself " lucky he's not in prison for theft, " considering the massive piece he occupies within the team's payroll in a single season while unable to play.

In response, Simmons' agent defended his client, saying he wouldn't tolerate such disrespect toward the embattled Australian star.

Simmons' agent claps back vs. SAS

Ben Simmons ' name has been continuously being forgotten around the league. Once a promising sensation who drew hype with his all-around ability and explosiveness compared to LeBron James, he suddenly faded out of relevance starting in 2021.

Since his infamous holdout with the Philadelphia 76ers, things haven't been favorable for the 27-year-old. He endured troubling back injuries in the past three seasons, which limited him to 57 total combined games for the Nets. Severely affected by these, his productivity and usual motor are nowhere to be found whenever he plays, and the 6.7 points average he tallied couldn't be more baffling.

Stephen A. didn't hold back from criticizing three-time All-Star regarding this matter and even questioned his passion for playing the game. Yet, Ben's agent, Bernie Lee, retaliated and fired shots against what he named an 'idiot' sports personality.

    Can Ben save his career?

It's unfortunate how things went wrong for Simmons. He has been one of the league's brightest stars and was competing against his peers like Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell, and Jaylen Brown.

However, all he can do now is endure criticism and scrutiny as a result of his frequent absences due to injuries. As a result, his hype videos and frequent appearances in fashion shows only served to exacerbate public criticism of his image.

To beat the allegations, Simmons understands that bouncing back from his trials and tribulations is the only answer. As he is expected to be healthy heading to the 2024-25 season with an expiring max contract, we can only wait and see if he will ball out and save his NBA career.
