Jane’s Addiction are back with their original lineup, and they begin their tour with Love & Rockets tonight (8/9) in Las Vegas. Ahead of that, guitarist Dave Navarro spoke with Rolling Stone about the reunion, and about the time he spent sidelined from performing with long Covid symptoms. “The jury’s still out on what’s the right treatment for long Covid,” he told Rolling Stone. “How do you get rid of it, if you can get rid of it? But I’m in a stronger place, where I can at least get through a 90-minute show, and I can definitely sit in a studio chair for eight hours, because that’s not very exhausting.”

Yoni Wolf is back with a new WHY? album, The Well I Fell Into, out now via Waterlines. WHY? has shapeshifted a lot over the years, from art rock to hip hop to all kinds of uniquely-WHY? stuff in between, and on this album, Yoni says he was “very interested in classic songwriting. I want my songs to be able to be played unadorned by just one person and still hold up. Any production frills should only serve to elevate the song further without being relied upon to tell the story.” The album features contributions from Gia Margaret, Finom’s Macie Stewart, Lala Lala’s Lillie West, Serengeti, and Ada Lea, and there is indeed lots of classic songwriting on this album, but Yoni still finds ways to embrace his trademark eccentricities too.

Sufjan Stevens has produced a new album of music for kids and babies by John Legend. My Favorite Dream is due out on August 30 via Republic, and features nine original tracks, five covers (Bob Marley & the Wailers’ “Three Little Birds,” “You Are My Sunshine,” and three bonus covers of Fisher-Price songs), and a solo piano song. You can hear the first single, “L-O-V-E,” which features Chrissy Teigen (his wife) and two of his kids, Luna and Miles, below.

For over 15 years, Cincinnati’s The Dopamines have been making the kind of raw, snappy, gritty pop punk that existed before “pop punk” fully became mainstream music. If you’ve never hopped on the Dopamines train but you’re into anything from classic Lookout! Records to Dillinger Four to The Ergs! (whose Mikey Erg has acted as The Dopamines’ touring guitarist in the past), you’re missing out. They’ll release their first album in over seven years, 80​/​20, on October 18 via Rad Girlfriend Records (pre-order), and speaking of Lookout!, it was produced by longtime Green Day affiliate Chris Dugan.
