Maine’s Community Colleges Receive Largest Workforce Grant in History
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - The Harold Alfond Foundation is giving more than $75 million to the Maine Community College System. This is the biggest workforce grant in the history of Maine’s seven Community Colleges. Throughout the state of Maine, there is currently a shortage of skilled workers. In an effort to address this shortage the Harold Alfond Foundation is investing 75 million dollars in grant money to the Maine Community College System. This grant will affect more than 70,000 workforce students over the next five years. Bringing the total funds this foundation has donated over the last six years to nearly $100 million.
