Fire from unauthorized burn pit destroys shed and camper near Salina
SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) - A fire from an unauthorized burn pit destroyed a shed and camper, and damaged a nearby property near Salina Monday evening. The Saline County Sheriff's Office says a fire was reported by a deputy around 5:15 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Old Highway 40. Upon arrival, the deputy found a shed fully engulfed.
UPDATED: SFD responds to fire at Speakeasy storage shed
Several Salina Fire Department crews responded to a fire at the Speakeasy Bar and Grill, 2030 S Ohio Street, in Salina, this afternoon. Salina Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Stansberry said at approximately 1:30 p.m. on July 25, Fire Engine Two responded to the Speakeasy within three minutes of receiving the call of a fire near the restaurant.
Tips Sought in Transformer Theft
Tips are sought in a case involving a pole mounted transformer. The crime is the latest Salina Crime Stoppers crime of the week. Salina Police say between Wednesday, July 3rd and Monday, July 8th, a theft occurred at Border States Electrical, 1320 Armory Road. It was determined during this time, someone cut through a fence and removed a pole mounted transformer from the area. The transformer was then taken into a wooded area near the business and disassembled in an effort to remove copper wiring from inside.
