A Broward County Sheriff's deputy is dead after an off-duty crash, according to his family.

Anthony Zahorovsky was killed yesterday in Sunrise when his motorcycle collided with an SUV.

Car and motorcycle parts littered Pine Island Road just north of Northwest 44th Street after the severe crash left two people with injuries and one man dead.

A witness says he flew about 30 feet in the air. The 27-year-old died at the scene.

Zahorovsky had been with the BSO for four years.

His cousin says he was an Army veteran, and he leaves behind a pregnant wife and a two-year-old son.

The Broward Deputy Sheriffs Association released a statement:

“During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences, thoughts, prayers and unwavering support to Anthony’s family. May they find strength in the memories of Anthony’s life and positive impact he had on those around him.”

The fallen officer's body was escorted by police to the medical examiner’s office.
