Brownsville Renews MN Small Cities Membership
Brownsville City Council members met Wednesday, July 3 at Brownsville Community Center. Mayor Jean Meyer called the meeting to order at 7 p.m., City Clerk Steve Schuldt then conducted roll call. Council members present included Meyer, Pam Walhovd, Barb Hurley, Tim Klug and Bill Fitzpatrick. City employees present included Schuldt, City Maintenance Dean Twite and City Treasurer Jenna Knight.
Houston Ambulance Now State Training Center
At their July 8 meeting, the Houston City Council recognized ambulance employees Dave Runningen and Chris Cox for their impressive 40 years of service to the community on the ambulance. In addition, Anna Frauenkron shared that the ambulance has now officially become a training center for the state of Minnesota. With that, the ambulance crew can present EMT, EMR and refresher courses right in Houston.
Eitzen Habitat Home Making Progress
At the July 9 Eitzen City Council meeting, Mayor Jeff Adamson proudly announced, “We have progress!” referring to the Habitat for Humanity home. The water and sewer were hooked up today, July 9, at the Habitat Home. A community build day at the home on 103 Iowa Avenue North is scheduled for August 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers can register at online or stop by the Habitat Home and use the QR code on the sign to register.
La Crosse year-round school district begins new school year
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - Northside Elementary School officially began their 2024-2025 school year on Monday. This year the school has the theme “Growing Together”. “Our theme came because our greenhouse was completed this past year. That’s going to be a big part of our learning this year. Also, it’s our ten year anniversary for Northside. We’ve had ten years of Coulee Montessori Northside here at this building together where we’ve been learning and growing together. We’re just going to enhance on that this year,” says School Principal Sarah Bradle.
West Salem School District holds threat assessment training
