    CCSO arrest Brownsville couple for abuse, neglect of children, dog

    BROWNSVILLE, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — A Brownsville couple is accused of abusing their children and their dog. Sheriff’s officials say the pair has a history of abuse and neglect.

    Michael Angelo Garcia, 30 and Amanda Sauceda, 26, were charged with injury to a child, abandoning or endangering a child and cruelty to animals.

    Sauceda is also facing a charge of failure to report a felony, according to a news release from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.

    On June 23. deputies say they responded to a disturbance at a home on the 5700 block of Paso Real Drive.

    At the scene, deputies spoke with the couple, who were arguing. While interviewing them, deputies say they discovered Sauceda had an outstanding warrant for a burglary of a motor vehicle and was arrested.

    Deputies also arrested Garcia for public intoxication. They say Garcia was stumbling down the road when they arrived.

    She was booked into the Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.

    Child Protective Services was called due to the couple’s four children being at the scene during the arrests. The children were later released to a family member.

    On June 24, CPS informed CCSO that the couple’s children discussed being physically abused. An investigation began and all four children were evaluated and interviewed.

    According to the release, the investigation revealed a long history of violent physical abuse and neglect of the children and dog.

    Sauceda remained jailed on her outstanding warrant. Last week she was charged with four counts of abandoning and endangering a child, three counts of injury to a child and one count of failure to report a felony.

    Garcia is also charged with four counts of abandoning or endangering a child and three counts of injury to a child. He also faces one count of cruelty to animals.

    On Saturday, deputies were patrolling the area of Paso Real and Tecate Drive and saw Garcia riding his bike. He was arrested on outstanding warrants. Deputies say he had several controlled substance pills with him.
