BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Former “American Idol” contestant and Gonzales native plans to release his debut album in October.

Blues musician Jovin Webb and Blind Pig Records will launch “Drifter” on Oct. 18. It will consist of 12 tracks, including his single, “Bottom of a Bottle.”

“It’s about those moments of hitting rock bottom and finding solace where you can, even if it’s in the bottom of a bottle,” Webb said in a news release. “The blues has always been about feeling deeply, and this track really embodies that.”

The album was created to reflect Webb’s personal life and was influenced by Black Baptist church music.

“’Drifter’ is the sound of a blues life searching for gospel redemption,” Webb said. “It’s me trying to figure out religion, women, my career and everything I’ve gone through.”

Grammy-winning producer Tom Hambridge produced the album, and it can be pre-ordered or downloaded on music streaming platforms.

The Gonzales native was featured on season 18 of “American Idol” and made it as a Top 11 finalist.
