    Beloved Alabama teacher, son killed in tragic wreck that also sent six other to hospital

    An Alabama woman who was recently named “Teacher of the Year,” and her son was killed in an automobile accident that also sent six other people to the hospital.

    Brundidge Police Chief Sam C. Green reported that the Brundidge Police Department is investigating the tragic motor vehicle crash that claimed the lives of Heather Minton, 40, of Troy, and her eight-year-old son.

    The accident occurred on Pike County Road 4421 in Brundidge on Thursday evening.

    Heather Minton was recently named “Teacher of the Year.”

    She succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash. Her son was airlifted to a medical facility but later died from his injuries. Additionally, six other victims were transported to medical facilities and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    The cause of the accident remains undetermined and is under investigation by the Brundidge Police Department, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Pike County Coroner’s Office, and the Pike County District Attorney’s Office. Chief Green expressed his condolences and prayers to all the families involved and extended his gratitude to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, Troy Fire Department, Brundidge Fire Department, and Haynes Ambulance for their assistance at the scene.
