Something ‘a-fowl’ in Brundidge

There’s an old saying that “There’s something rotten in Denmark.”

Well, there’s something rotten in the vicinity of the transfer truck parking lot just off S.A. Graham Blvd. in Brundidge and across for the Dollar General.

On Saturday morning, several shoppers leaving the Dollar General noticed a foul odor.

Donna Hogan, of Brundidge, was among the shoppers who were curious about the “awful smell.”

“We knew something was rotten and a lot of it,” Hogan said.

Someone noticed a lot of boxes that appeared to have been thrown out in the truck parking lot.

It didn’t take long to realize the stench was coming from the boxes, Hogan said.

“The boxes must have contained food and, for some reason, they had been dumped on the ground,” Hogan said. “Either the food was already spoiled or it spoiled in the heat and that was the cause of that awful stench.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, Brundidge Police Chief Sam Green said the incident continues to be under investigation.
