The hope for the City of Brundidge has long been to have a travel stop locate on U.S. Highway 231 within the city limits.

That hope is now becoming a reality.

The Legacy Travel Center, the partnership of Todd Bolden and Varun Patel of Enterprise, has purchased 22 acres of land on the west side of the city’s downtown area as the site of a travel center that is scheduled for opening the end of 2025.

The plans for the Legacy Travel Center include 32 car-fueling positions, six high speed diesel lanes, 50-plus truck parking, truckers’ lounge, onsite mechanic and 24-hours security.

For motor travelers, the Legacy Travel Center will feature a 20-room short-stay motel, 12,000 square-foot store, children’s play area, EV charging spots, dog park, full kitchen and all faith prayer room.

Bolden said Brundidge was chosen as the location for the Legacy Travel Center because of its location near the Walmart Distribution Center, Southern Classic Foods and other industries and businesses that utilize large truck carriers.

Also, the location between Troy and Ozark will be beneficial for truckers and travelers

Bolden said. “And, there will be opportunities for jobs.”

“The Legacy Travel Center will be a clean, safe travel stop for truckers, travelers and local traffic,” Bolen said. “Varun and I are excited to have this opportunity to locate Legacy Travel Center in Brundidge. It will be our largest center and we are looking forward to being a part of Brundidge and Pike County.”

Bolen expressed appreciation to Brundidge City Manager Willie Wight for his active support of the Legacy Travel Center, to Mayor Isabell Boyd for her interest and support and to Rayvon Graham for making the site available to the City of Brundidge on a highly-traveled U.S. Highway.
