A fire that appears to have started near a roof HVAC system and temporarily closed Grand View Hospital on Sunday night is under investigation.

The fire was  detected shortly after 8:30 p.m. in a maintenance/equipment room on the roof above the third floor of the West Building, which is the original hospital building, according to Pennridge Regional Police Department and hospital spokeswoman Wendy Kaiser.

Nineteen patients on the affected floor, 3E, were evacuated to other rooms in the hospital as a precautionary measure, Kaiser said. There were 105 patients in the hospital when the fire was started. No injuries were reported.

The fire was quickly contained and damage from the fire appears to be minimal, Kaiser said.

The “all clear” was given at 10:14 p.m. and the hospital was re-opened at 10:44 p.m., Kaiser said. Teams were onsite overnight to mitigate any residual odors and assure patient areas were restored to normal.

A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted by the Bucks County Fire Marshal Officeand the Pennridge Regional Police Department with the cooperation of Grand View Hospital.

Firefighters from nearly 25 departments in Bucks and Montgomery counties and Bucks County Emergency Services responded to the Lawn Avenue hospital.
