Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) – Frank Seravalli is reporting that the Buffalo Sabres have signed Jason Zucker to a one-year, $5-million deal. The Sabres have also made a solid signing for their bottom six inking Sam Lafferty to a two-year, 4-million contract. This was first reported by Chris Johnston.

Zucker played last season with the Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators. With the Coyotes, Zucker scored nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points, while in Nashville the 32-year-old played 18 games scoring five goals and seven points. He’s played 697 NHL games with those three teams and the Minnesota Wild.

In 2022-23, Zucker netted 27 goals and 21 assists for 48 points with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Lafferty can play wing or center and was a key addition that helped make the Vancouver Canucks a better team last season.

At 6’2, 205 Lafferty has also played with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs.

This is a player that’s tough and is very hard to play against. He has a relentless style of game which is exactly what the Sabres need.

Last season with the Canucks Lafferty played 79 games scoring 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points. He’s played 289 NHL games.

Both these players are playoff tested.
