Buffalo Catholic Diocese lists St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church for sale

7 News is learning the Buffalo Catholic Diocese is putting another property up for sale.

The Diocese is selling St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church on East Delavan Avenue in the City of Buffalo for $500,000.

The property has four buildings, including the church, rectory, school building and a former convent.

This comes just days after All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo's Riverside neighborhood closed after holding its final mass last Saturday.

A flood of memories came rushing back for many parishioners, remembering a lifetime of milestones.

The Diocese tells us a new owner will take over the property but doesn't know when.

St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in the Town of Tonawanda also held its final mass late last month.

The church's pews were packed for the final mass, with standing room only as parishioners new and old were there for the final farewell.

About a third of churches in the Diocese are set to close and merge as part of the Road to Renewal plan. St. Lawrence would merge with Blessed Trinity Church on Leroy Avenue under this plan. St. Lawrence's final mass will be on August 10th.

The diocese announced in May it would be shutting down 34 percent of its parishes and 38 percent of its worship spaces.

This is at least the fifth diocese property that has been listed for sale. Christ the King Seminary was listed in November for $5.3 million , the Catholic Center was listed for sale for $9.8 million in March , the Buffalo State University Newman Center was listed for sale for $649,000 in March , and the St. Jude Center was listed for sale for $1.5 million in June .
