Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Audacy and the Buffalo Bills have named Chris Brown as the new full-time radio play-by-play voice of the team beginning in 2024. The longtime team beat reporter succeeds the legendary John Murphy after he formally stepped away from full-time play-by-play duties in May.

Brown assumed play-by-play duties on an interim basis near the end of the 2022 season. He'll continue to be paired up with former Bills center Eric Wood, who provides color commentary on game days, as well as WGR Bills sideline reporter Sal Capaccio.

"I was fortunate enough to know Van Miller and John Murphy, and worked with them and learned from them," said Brown in a statement Tuesday morning. "I'm grateful to be trusted with this responsibility going forward."

"He has strong institutional knowledge of our team, while also understanding the pulse of our fans. We look forward to Chris carrying the torch of the legends this job has produced in Van Miller and John Murphy," praised Bills Chief Operating Officer Pete Guelli.

In addition to his role as play-by-play announcer, Brown will continue to serve as a Bills insider for WGR, and remain the co-host of "One Bills Live" alongside Bills legend Steve Tasker every weekday from 1-to-3 p.m. ET on the station.

Brown has worked in sports broadcasting since 1996, calling everything from Arena Football League games, to college football and professional soccer.
