Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Congressman Nick Langworthy reacts to the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle after Monday's contentious hearing into what went wrong in protecting Donald Trump.

Langworthy told WBEN's David Bellavia Tuesday the building from where the shooter fired at Trump was closer than many believe. "These buildings are no more than a 9 iron shot from the podium, and you don't have to be a good golfer," says Langworthy. He says someone with a mediocre shot could have taken down Trump.

Langworthy says it was dereliction of duty to not have a team on each of the three buildings' roofs. "This should have been part of the secure perimeter," says Langworthy, He says the rally site was similar to a small fairgrounds. "There was a clear and direct line of sight and they didn't have any officers on any of those roofs," says Langworthy.

Langworthy says he's glad Cheatle "finally woke up and figured out her time was short." He adds Cheatle united the Oversight Committee into calling for her resignation.
