With injuries adding up in the secondary at safety, the Buffalo Bills have decided to add a player at that position for the second time this week.

The team has announced the addition of Terrell Burgess. In a corresponding move, punter Jack Browning was released. Burgess’ addition comes a day after longtime veteran Kareem Jackson was signed by the Bills one day prior.

Both safeties signed in Buffalo after a string of injuries hit the position at training camp. Mike Edwards has battled injury since the spring, only to add a hamstring issue this week. A day later, second-round rookie Cole Bishop hurt his arm.

A third-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 2020 out of Utah, Burgess spent time in L.A. until 2022. Burgess was released in November 2022 by the Rams and joined the New York Giants’ practice squad. Last season, the 25-year-old appeared in 12 games for the Washington Commanders, mostly in a special teams role.

In his career, Burgess has appeared in 43 games but only has made four starts on defense. He has one career pass defended.

Burgess joins the likes of Jackson, Damar Hamlin, Taylor Rapp. Kendall Williamson and Dee Delaney at safety.

While with the Rams, Burgess helped the team win Super Bowl LVI.

Bills Wire will continue to provide all roster updates throughout the 2024 season.
