Old and young hit the surf at Kahuna Kupuna
Before catching a wave at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica last Saturday, Peter Schultz had already secured two titles in the amateur competition for surfers over 40. This year, he was the Kahuna Kupuna, the event's namesake, which is Hawaiian for "Big Chief Wise Elder," as he was the oldest surfer at the competition at age 74. He was also the returning Kahuna Kupuna from the previous year.
Golden State’s newly established WNBA expansion team has officially announced their team name as the Valkyries
The Golden State WNBA expansion team announced Tuesday its name and brand identity: the Golden State Valkyries. Originating from Norse mythology, Valkyries are a host of warrior women who are fearless and unwavering – flying through air and sea alike. This brand is Golden State’s modern interpretation of Valkyries: strong, bold, and fierce. The franchise, which marks the first WNBA expansion team since 2008, will begin play in the 2025 WNBA season at Chase Center. The Valkyries, the WNBA affiliate team of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, have already surpassed 7,500 season ticket deposits for the team’s inaugural season.
