Minneapolis Fourth of July Erupts in Chaos: SWAT Mobilized as Violence Strikes Dinkytown
(KNSI) – The Fourth of July once again descended into violent lawlessness in Minneapolis. Since the pandemic, the holiday has been characterized by mobs of teenagers and young adults lighting off fireworks at cars and buildings and looting. This year, the problems were mostly seen in the Dinkytown neighborhood near the University of Minnesota campus.
30 people arrested amid July 4 chaos in Minneapolis
More than two dozen teens and young adults were jailed late Thursday and early Friday after allegedly shooting fireworks at vehicles and people in Minneapolis. Police arrested 30 people and cited five others amid a night of chaos that centered around the Dinkytown neighborhood. The suspects range in age from 15 to 23; the majority are adults.
BCA says use of deadly force in Burnsville shooting was justified
(Hastings, MN) -- Prosecutors say the B-C-A investigation into the use of deadly force by three Burnsville police officers in February confirms they were justified in firing their guns. Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena says, "there is absolutely no doubt the officers were justified in using deadly force to protect themselves, other officers, first responders, and members of the public from death or great bodily harm.” Burnsville Officers Matthew Ruge, Paul Elmstrand, and Fire Medic Adam Finseth were fatally shot during the domestic incident. Keena said, “all three men embodied the spirit of a public servant as they selflessly acted to protect seven children from the hands of Shannon Gooden. "

Firework Chaos Shuts Down Some Minneapolis Streets For 3rd Year
For the third year in a row, juveniles and or young adults ran parts of downtown Minneapolis until large numbers of officers could clear the streets. From various online videos, it appears that there weren't as many instances of fireworks being shot at bystanders, but there were various reports of fireworks being shot off at officers.

Deputies responding to the scene discovered Tsai’s body in the backseat of Lewis’s vehicle prompting immediate suspicion that her death was unrelated to the crash.
27-year-old man dies after falling from a tree on the Fourth of July
AITKIN, Minn. — A 27-year-old man died after falling from a tree near the shores of Gun Lake in Aitkin on the Fourth of July. According to police, Henry M. Cannon, was climbing a large White Pine tree near while celebrating the holiday with friends when a branch broke and he fell approximately 25-feet to the ground. The fall knocked Cannon unconscious and resulted in multiple internal injuries, said authorities. Cannon was transported to Riverwood Hospital and administered lifesaving care. Unfortunately, Cannon succumbed to his injuries. Police are still investigating the incident. Several different law enforcement agencies had a busy Fourth of July evening in Minneapolis, reporting they made 30 arrests and gave out five citations overnight.Of those arrested and given citations, 27 were adults and eight were juveniles. The ages range between mid-teen to early twenties. O'Hara said similar to last year a number of those involved were from outside the city of Minneapolis.

Close call between dump truck and motorcyclist caught on camera
MINNEAPOLIS — Dash camera video shows an incredibly close call between a motorcycle, SUV and dump truck on a Minneapolis interstate.The Minnesota State Patrol says a motorcyclist crashed into a guard rail while traveling southbound on Interstate 35W at Hennepin Avenue on Monday.After the motorcycle crashed, a Kia SUV swerved to avoid the crash and got rear-ended by a dump truck. The dump truck ended up spinning out, narrowly missing the motorcycle and its operator.The motorcyclist suffered injuries that were non considered life-threatening. No one else reported any injuries.The crash remains under investigation.

I can't believe how awful this story is, the fact that someone would throw a cat from the 12th floor of a building with no regard for its life is so sad. Home for Life is a sanctuary for animals in need, especially those overlooked for adoption due to special care requirements, they are based in Stillwater, MN, they were contacted by Minneapolis Animal Control about a cat that desperately needed some help.
State Patrol IDs Two Minnesota Men Killed in Separate Crashes
(KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has released the names of two people killed in separate traffic incidents Tuesday night. One of the victims was a 19-year-old man from the Grand Rapids area. The State Patrol says Carter Haithcock of Goodland was fatally injured around 11:20 PM on Tuesday when he was struck by an SUV while he was walking in the traffic lane on Highway 169 in Nashwauk. The Grand Rapids woman driving the SUV was not hurt.

Margot Lewis appeared remotely Friday, July 5, where Judge Debra Jacobson and the prosecution determined that if the defendant was released from Hennepin County custody in the future, Lewis would return to Olmsted County custody on $1M bail.

According to the criminal complaint, Cariff was shot in the parking lot of an Amazon Order Fulfillment location in Lakeville, where the two worked.

Minneapolis man dies after being pulled from St. Croix River
AFTON, Minn. — A Minneapolis man has died after being pulled from the St. Croix River east of the Twin Cities Wednesday, according to officials.The Washington County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched at 9:41 a.m. to Afton State Park Beach for a possible drowning near the campgrounds.
