Affordable Housing Project Update
The Sawmill Village project, situated on Sawmill Hollow Road just east of the Burnsville city limits, off Hwy 19 E, has been delayed due to permitting issues since its inception in 2021. Extensive grading was initiated in 2023 but remains incomplete. Upon completion, this affordable housing initiative will feature 26 homes for seniors aged 55+ and individuals with disabilities, along with a small community building. According to Luke Fowler, Northwestern Housing Development Manager, on Thursday, June 27th, “We have been working through State environmental regulations and are very close to obtaining clearance to begin, along with the building permit. Grading and utility work should resume within 60 days. We are excited to get this much-needed affordable housing started.”
