AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo Parks and Recreation are bringing back the beloved firework and drone show to John Stiff Park with the Independence Day +1 celebration. “It’s something the community has been wanting for awhile, so I know we’ve heard nothing but, ‘Hey, are you guys going to do a Fourth of July show?’ So we know with city council’s support as well as a lot of other departments we’re able to put this together,” said Kelsey Sargent recreation and special events supervisor.
Fire reported in Potter County near Ole Muddy Rd, Pasture Lane
POTTER COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Fire Crews are working a reported fire in Potter County near Pasture Lane and Old Muddy Road. The Potter County Sherriff’s office said one structure was burned as a result of the fire. No further details were provided.

Amarillo health officials discuss eye safety for Fourth of July
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - In the Texas Panhandle, there are numerous cases of eye injuries from fireworks, especially among children and young adults. “On a yearly basis, 9,100 people go to an emergency room for fireworks related injuries; of those 15% are usually eye-related. In terms of the demographics people that have fireworks injuries are 18 years or below, so it’s the younger kids a lot of times that have these problems,” said Dr. Vish Reddy, comprehensive ophthalmologist at Rush Eye Associates.
