Former President Donald Trump was hustled off stage by his Secret Service detail when sounds resembling gunfire rang out from the crowd at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania , but not before he said four defiant word s. The incident, caught on live stream, took place shortly after Trump began speaking.

At approximately 6:13 pm local time, loud bangs sparked panic as the crowd seemed to crouch for protection.

Trump seemed to take a blow near his right ear and is seen in footage dropping to the floor before Secret Service agents closed in around him. Despite the swift action of his security team ushering him to safety, he proclaimed with determination: "Fight, fight, fight, fight."

With blood marking his features, he clenched his fist high in a gesture of defiance to the apparent concern of his supporters. He was then swiftly driven off the rally site, which has been designated an active crime scene.

The Secret Service is actively investigating the situation, releasing a statement saying: "An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available."

A spokesperson for Trump conveyed in a statement: "President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility."

"Violence targeted at any political party or political leader is absolutely unacceptable. It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States," Shapiro added.
