A Democratic congressman's staffer has caused a stir online with a Facebook post expressing that she wished the person who attempted to assassinate ex-president Donald Trump "had better aim." Jacqueline Marsaw, who works as a field director for Mississippi representative Bennie G. Thompson, made the controversial remarks on Facebook shortly after an incident where Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania .

"I don't condone violence but please get some shooting lessons so you don't miss next time ooops that wasn't me talking," Marsaw is reported to have said by The Daily Mail. Marsaw followed up with another comment saying, "That's what your hate speech got you!!"

The 61-year-old Marsaw removed the post, but not before it was captured and circulated on the internet. The comments have led to a backlash on social media, reports the US Sun.

"Have you fired Jaqueline Marsaw yet," demanded one user, tagging Thompson in their message on X. "What kind of a person are you that you would have someone like her working for you. Disgusting," the user continued.

Another incensed individual commented, "You should fire this trash that works for you,". Calls for more severe consequences for Marsaw have been suggested by other social media commentators.
