Donald Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks had Kate Middleton in his search history and phone before assassination attempt.
On Saturday, July 13, the former President was shot and injured when the 20-year-old man tried to kill him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania . Crooks shot eight rounds into the rally which killed a spectator and critically injured two people. Trump's right ear was grazed by a bullet, and was left bleeding, as was seen in photographs of the failed assassination attempt. Crooks was killed by a Secret Service sniper.
As investigators are trying to look into Crooks' motive for targeting the Republican presidential candidate, they are looking to his actions within days and weeks before the shooting. According to National Public Radio , The FBI have been reviewing Crooks' electronic devices such as a laptop and two phones. They found saved photos of the Princess of Wales but also of President Biden, Trump, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

The Pennsylvania native also searched for dates of events Trump was speaking at, the Democratic National Convention and the words “major depressive order.” The reason for the searches and saved images are not clear as of yet.
Recently, Kate Middleton was seen at Wimbledon with daughter Princess Charlotte and sister Pippa Matthews on July 14, a day after Trump was shot at. This rare outing marked the second public appearance for the 42-year-old since her undisclosed cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She was welcomed with a round of applause as she sat in the front row seat in the Royal Box.
The shooter is from a Bethel Park, PA which is south of Pittsburgh. The community where Crooks is from is home to nearly 33,000 people. He was a 2022 graduate at Bethel Park High School. Crooks received a $500 National Math & Science Initiative Star Award, per a local Bethel Park news report .
After high school, he attended the Community College of Allegheny County. He recently graduated two months ago with an associate's degree in engineering science. He planned to attend Robert Morris University this fall.
Data from the Federal Election Commission and Pennsylvania voter registration show Crooks was a registered Republican. However in 2021, he donated $15 through ActBlue, an Democratic-allied organization. Crooks had no criminal history as indicated through Pennsylvania's public court records database and according to Robert Wells of the FBI's counterterrorism division, no threatening language was found on his social media accounts.
