Drought continues to fade away in Missouri
Drought conditions in Missouri continue to fade away. The latest drought monitor shows only one small abnormally dry area, covering portions of Newton, Jasper, Barry, and Lawrence counties in the southwest part of the state. An abnormally dry area that covered extreme southern Barry County last week is gone thanks to recent rainfall.
SEMA to host area applicant briefing July 29 for local governments, nonprofits included in federal disaster declaration
Eligible local governments and nonprofit agencies in declared counties encouraged to attend to learn about application process and FEMA program rules. Following the federal disaster declaration for multiple severe weather systems that impacted Missouri May 19 - 27, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) will conduct applicant briefings July 29 for local governments and nonprofit agencies applying for Public Assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). SEMA strongly encourages all eligible agencies in the 15 declared counties that plan to apply for assistance to attend one of the briefings, which explain program changes, eligibility information, the federal reimbursement process, documentation requirements and other essential program information.
