If you tuned in to the 2024 Summer Olympics , you may have seen SNL star Colin Jost's brief turn as a commentator during the games.

I say "brief" because, just a few days into the games, Colin apparently tore up his foot on a coral reef in Tahiti while covering the surfing competition.

"This might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me," he wrote in the IG caption of a photo revealing his grisly-looking injuries .

Apparently, things did not get better from there. "You know it’s going great when you’ve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes," he later shared alongside a photo of his bandaged tootsies . Ouch!

Eventually, Colin was apparently put out of his misery and ceased covering the Olympics — which led to some errant speculation that NBC had pulled him off of coverage due to his injuries.

Yesterday, Colin cleared the air with a final Olympics dispatch posted to his IG , in which he claimed (possibly in jest, possibly not) that NBC didn't actually cut his coverage short.

After riffing on the texts he supposedly received since posting about his injuries — including "Heard your foot fell off" — Colin insisted that "I’m actually fine."

"Despite what big media conspiracies would have you believe, I wasn’t ‘sent home’ from the Olympics," he said. "NBC simply looked at my foot, declared me legally a leper, and exiled me here, to the island of Malta!”

“But the real reason I’m in Malta of course is because it was the site of 10 separate bubonic plague outbreaks so they thought I would fit right in,” he jokingly added.

Japes aside, it does seem like Colin's telling the truth about not being sent home early. NBC actually told USA Today last week that he stayed longer than he originally planned to. "Colin stayed longer than originally planned," they said in a statement. "The competition ran long due to weather. He had a great time, and everyone was thrilled with his coverage from Tahiti."
