BYHALIA, Miss. — A two-year-old was shot in the head in Marshall County overnight according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened at 14 Thornton Cove at around midnight.
Officials told WREG that a man and woman were arguing when a gun went off and shot the child who was lying in bed. The child is currently in the hospital in extremely critical condition.
“They were in a relationship and they were in the midst of splitting up and the altercation led to a weapon being pulled and there was a struggle and there was a shot fired,” said Kelly McMillen, Lt. Col. of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
The 2-year-old’s name is Edouardo, according to his mother.
Two adults were taken into custody but have not been charged yet.

Police say only one shot was fired. The one that hit the two-year-old was described as a stray bullet.
What happened at the home is shocking to a neighbor who just recently moved into the mobile home community.
“I know they are outside all the time over there. I never just really paid attention, but that’s sad. That’s really sad,” said Samantha Anderson. “All we can do is pray to God and I pray to God the baby be okay.”
Marshall County investigators will release the man’s identity when he is officially charged. We are told there are no previous felony charges that would keep him from possessing a gun.
The matter will be turned over to the Marshall County Grand Jury.
