A Lynbrook man is in custody this morning after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting an Emergency Medical Technician responding to a 9-1-1 call for an ambulance.

Lynbrook police officers arrested Aoun Ali, 24, at a house on Piccadilly Downs late last night just before midnight.

Nassau County Police Department said in a public statement that they received a 9-1-1 call from a Lynbrook residence requesting an ambulance to transport a man for emergency medical treatment.

Police said that when the ambulance arrived, Ali became agitated and "combative" and started to fight with the ambulance worker. They said he head-butted an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician when he was approached for evaluation.

Police say they subdued the man, then placed him under arrest. They did not say what method they used to achieve this result.

Ali was taken later to a hospital for observation.

They say the incident took place Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:35 pm.

The Advanced EMT allegedly attacked by Ali incurred minor injuries. Police say Ali's violent reaction caused a bruise to the AMT's head. The worker was treated for a bruise to his head and dizziness by medical personnel, and then released.

Ali is being charged with a single county of Felony Assault in the 2nd Degree under N.Y. Penal Law PL 120.05-3. He is scheduled to be arraigned today, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the Nassau County First District Court. His medical condition has not been disclosed.
