Families react to plea deal offered to Return to Nature Funeral Home owners
Prosecutors offered a plea deal to the co-owners of the Return to Nature Funeral Home, who are each facing more than 250 state counts including abuse of a corpse, money laundering, theft, and forgery.

Jon and Carie Hallford, co-owners of the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose, have been offered a plea deal following the discovery of 190 decomposing bodies improperly stored at their facility. If the Hallfords plead guilty to 190 counts of abuse of a corpse, they could face a prison sentence of 15 to 20 years. Their next court appearance is scheduled for July 11th.

Traffic stop leads to seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin
A traffic stop at Ninth Street and Whipple Avenue led to the seizure of illegal narcotics. A Cañon City police officer on May 26 pulled over a vehicle driven by Angelina Madison, 34, who was found to have had a suspended license. According to a media release, during the traffic stop, an open-air sniff was conducted by the CCPD K9, Kasio, who alerted to the vehicle, indicating the possible presence of narcotics. Officers subsequently searched the vehicle and located 1,641 fentanyl pills, 105.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 5 grams of black tar heroin.
