CABELL COUNTY , WV (LOOTPRESS) – A couple maliciously attacked two females in a park with a steel dog chain.

On June 11, 2024, at around 7:21 p.m., police were sent to the 1100 block of W 17th Street following reports of an assault in progress involving a male and female suspect attacking the victims.

Upon arrival at the scene, Officer Adkins found the victims. Both victims had visible bruises and cuts and were being attended to by Cabell County EMS. One victim described the suspects – a white female with red hair and a white male with dark curly hair – and mentioned they were last seen heading west on the railroad tracks from St. Cloud’s Park.

This information was shared with other officers present, leading to the detention of a female matching the description on the railroad tracks. The victims confirmed her involvement in the assault.

According to the victims, they were near the park where a dog was loose, and children were playing with it. The altercation began when the female suspect, identified as Tara King, along with Robert Crum, approached the children, using offensive language. King pushed one of the juveniles, prompting the victims to intervene. Crum then struck one victim across the face with a steel chain, causing injuries. King joined in by holding down the victim while the male continued to assault her with the chain.

A second victim was also struck with the chain when she tried to intervene, sustaining injuries as well. The steel chain used in the assault was recovered by officers from King, who was using it as a dog leash.

The injuries sustained by the victims were documented through photos taken by Officer Adkins, with one victim requiring transportation by Cabell County EMS due to the extent of her injuries.

King was arrested for her involvement in the assault and taken to the Huntington Police Department for processing. Crum fled but was later captured. King cooperated with the authorities, providing details about Crum and his whereabouts.

Investigations later revealed that Robert Crum, known to law enforcement, was the actual perpetrator involved in the assault.
