Much had changed in the three decades since the day in 1885 when Abner LaFevre stepped off the train in Lima. Then, he was a young traveling salesman lured to Lima by a report in a Cleveland newspaper that Lima was the place to make money, that “every little piece of land was saturated with oil.”
Kids adventure into music with the Lima Public Library's Summer Reading Program
CAIRO, OH (WLIO) - Local kids got a lesson in music thanks to the Lima Public Library. The summer reading program through the library held "Adventures in Music" Wednesday at the Cairo branch. Kids of all ages came to learn about different musical instruments, the sounds of music, and the history of music.
McDonald's locations in Ohio are holding a school supply drive
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - McDonald's of Ohio kicked off their second annual school supply drive on Monday. This year, 380 locations across the Greater Ohio Region are participating, including 12 in the Lima area. Lima locations are teaming up with Allen County Children Services to ensure that students can start the year off on the right foot.

Learning about the rich history of Wapakoneta through tours with the Auglaize County Historical Society
WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) - History buffs took to the streets Tuesday night in downtown Wapakoneta to learn more about the rich history of the Auglaize County seat. The Auglaize County Historical Society hosted tours beginning at the Auglaize County Municipal Court and took local residents through Downtown Wapak to learn about some of the buildings they may drive by every single day. The tour included stops at the local post office and the Wapa Theatre, as well as various shops and restaurants along East Auglaize Street. The goal is to let residents learn something new about the city they live in.
