The Caledonia/Spring Grove track teams participated in the Section 1A championships at Triton High School with a chance to go to state in many events.

Events and qualifiers for the Caledonia/Spring Grove Track teams are as follows.

    Boys

The boys had a plethora of participants in events for the championships, and sent multiple individuals and relay teams to state.

In the 200m dash, Caledonia will see Gabe Curley (third) and Fischer Wait at state, with section times of 22.48 and 22.55 respectively. Wait also qualifies in the 400m dash in third place with a score of 49.91.

In the 110m hurdles, Ethan Stendel fell just short in third place with a time of 15.62, but he would bounce back in the high jump, qualifying in third place with a score of 6-04.00.

The relays came with a lot of success for the boys. Both the 4x100 and 4x200 teams would qualify for state and place first in their respective races.

Eli Staggemeyer, Gabe Curley, Owen Staggemeyer and Josh Beardmore won the 4x100 and qualified for state with a time of 43.39. The 4x200 relay saw Eli Staggemeyer, Owen Staggemeyer, Josh Beardmore, and Fischer Wait qualify in first with a time of 1:30.44.

Josh Beardmore also qualified for state in the long jump event, placing second with a distance of 20-11.50. Last, but certainly not least, Jordan Tornstrom took first place in the discus throw event, with a huge throw of 171-02.00, which set another school record for Caledonia.

    Girls

The girls would participate in four events in the championships, with Nicole Banse taking part in the 200-meter dash. Banse would place seventh in the finals with a time of 26.70, but not qualify for state in this event.

Next up for the girls, the 4x100 relay team of Loisah Gay, Sienna Augedahl, Chloe Lange and Nicole Banse fell short in their bid for state – placing fourth with a time of 51.03.

The 4x200m relay team consisting of the same ladies as the 4x100 held different fortunes, as it placed fourth with a time of 1:47.38 to qualify for state.

Lastly for the girls, Nicole Banse placed seventh in the long jump with a measure of 16-05.25 but would not qualify in this event.

The Track and Field state tournament will take place from June 6-8 at St. Michael-Albertville High School in St. Michael, Minnesota.
