Caledonia Post 191 defeated Chatfield Post 197 4-1 on Thursday, July 11, ending its regular season 7-0 in Legion baseball play. Post 191 will go into the Legion tournament in the Southeast bracket as the No. 1 seed.

This came after the game against Blooming Prairie Senior Legion was called off, due to lack of players.

Reid Klug took the rubber for Post 191 against Post 197 in Chatfield, going 4⅔ innings with six strikeouts while only allowing one earned run in the outing.

Landon O’Heron would come in relief and pitch 2⅓ innings only allowing one hit and striking out one. Garret Konz and Owen Denstad would drive in a run each in the third inning to start off scoring for Caledonia in the third inning.

Chatfield could not string together enough hits, but were able to drive in one run by Chase Johnston, but the team did not muster any more. Caledonia would drive in two more runs in the sixth inning, and they would settle in taking the win by a score of 4-1.

Top hitters for Caledonia included: Reid Klug leading the way by going 2-3 to support his own campaign, and all players for Caledonia at least had one hit on the night. Kyle Bechtel ran the bases well and was able to score twice on the night, and he tied with Tanner Ginther with two stolen bases in the game.

Next up for Post 191 is a second round showdown with the winner between Zumbrota and Eyota who play on Thursday, July 18. The matchup will be at home for Post 191 on Saturday, July 20 at 11 a.m.
