Black families fight for California Gold Country land taken from their ancestors
COLOMA -- In a tiny town where the California gold rush began, Black families are seeking restitution for land that was taken from their ancestors to make way for a state park now frequented by fourth graders learning about the state's history.Their efforts in Coloma, a town of around 300 people that's located about 36 miles northeast of Sacramento, are one of the latest examples of Black Americans urging the government to atone for practices that have kept them from thriving long after chattel slavery was abolished.Debates over reparations for African Americans often come back to land. The A's Have Apparently Failed To Secure Any Investors For Their Vegas Stadium + There's A Rumored Gag Order In Place On Bay Area Investment Groups Interested In Keeping Baseball in Oakland
We've got a little update from the Oakland/Sacramento/Vegas A's. Last week they detailed their financing plan for how their new stadium will be built in Sin City. That plan is: up to $380M in public funding (they claim they only need $350M) + $300M in debt financing + $850M in family equity. Seems straight forward, but nothing is actually that simple when it comes to this move. The $850M from the family would involve investors because obviously the cheap fucks that the Fisher family are wouldn't dare spend that out of their own pocket. The A's claim they have not reached out to any investors yet.

‘No pizzazz’: Instagram co-founder’s new cube-shaped mansion gets ratioed by neighbors
Residents of a San Francisco neighborhood known as one of the hottest real estate spots for tech executives are not thrilled about the latest abode under construction. The cube-shaped mansion at 801 Sanchez St. sits on a hilltop in picturesque Dolores Heights, and its stark, geometric design has upset residents who say it doesn’t fit in with the character of the neighborhood, where narrow, shingled cottages and Victorians are rubbing shoulders with the nouveau-riche dwellings.
