Crews working to contain Toll Fire in Napa County; evacuation warnings remain
Cal Fire crews responded to a wind-driven fire in Napa County on Tuesday that was near the community of Calistoga.Cal Fire named it the Toll Fire and said about 50 acres had burned as of 12:16 p.m. The fire was burning in a southwest direction and firefighters were using seven fixed-wing aircraft and three helicopters to fight the fire. The total number of personnel on the fire was 300. By 4:30 p.m., crews had stopped the fire's forward progress and worked containment to 10%. Heat Advisory in Effect Today Through Sunday for Most of the Bay Area and Northern California
A dangerous new heat wave is hitting California this holiday week. The Excessive Heat Warning begins Tuesday and lasts through Sunday evening with many places baking in temperatures 20-degrees above average. Santa Rosa is set to reach a high of 106 degrees today. Napa is expected to reach a high of 104. Triple digit temperatures and very warm overnight lows are expected into the weekend in the North Bay mountains and interior valleys. The region is facing heightened wildfire risk due strong northerly winds and low humidity. Forecasters also warn heat stroke is a real possibility especially as millions in California plan to be outside celebrating the Fourth of July.

YOLO COUNTY – Nearly 12,000 Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) customers across eight Northern California counties could be impacted by a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) on Tuesday.Which counties could be impacted by the PSPS?PG&E says the PSPS could affect customers in Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Napa, Shasta, Solano, Tehama and Yolo counties. Motive Remains Unclear Around Decapitation of Santa Rosa Grandmother
A Santa Rosa man’s motives for beheading his grandmother remain unclear. Santa Rosa resident Luis Aroyo-Lopez was sentenced last week to 26 years to life in prison for the death of his grandmother, Elvia Aroyo-Lopez in November of 2023. Authorities said in court that it was his goal to kill her just one day after he was released from prison. Lopez had been serving a sentence for probation violation related to an assault with a deadly weapon conviction. He got to his grandmother’s Santa Rosa home on Pomo Trail and his arrival was unexpected. He had been in street gangs since he was 15 but wouldn’t say if it was connected to the killing. When officers questioned him about the murder, he explained it was “easy money” for him.
Three Men Arrested for Stealing a Tractor in Windsor
Three men are facing charges in connection to the theft of a tractor in Windsor. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Refugio Carrillo, Rodrigo Lopez and Damian Rosales last week Monday. The three are accused of stealing a Kubota Skid Steer tractor last month along with some building materials. Police were patrolling Cross Creek Road in Santa Rosa when they spotted the stolen tractor.

Sarmentine Artisan Boulanger, with popular bakeries in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol, is coming to Petaluma.
